We Love Earth Week - Day 5

Hi Everyone!! Sorry this post is a day late... Anyways, welcome to our 5th and final day of our We Love Earth Week celebration... I hope you've enjoyed this week as much as we have! Here's what we did today...

We love earth week

We planted some flowers and herbs!

IMG_7219

I'll have to keep you all updated on how/if they grow, seeing as i don't really have a green thumb.

For our book today, we read 'The Adventures of an Aluminum Can' by Alison Inches. It's a great 'how it's made' story, about the process of making an aluminum can and what happens to it after you recycle it.

Other books you might want to consider reading for Earth Day (or for an Earth week celebration) are:
Earth Day Hooray book

The Curious Garden Book

Biscuit's Earth Day Celebration Book

This Tree Counts! book

I really had the hardest time coming up with fun themed snacks so there wasn't any new snack again today, but my kids wanted more of the dirt and worms so we made that again! :)

Have a great weekend everyone!!

We Love Earth Week - Day 4

Hey Everyone!! Today is Day 4 of our We Love Earth Week celebration, and although the weather is kinda dreary here today we were still able to have some fun! So without further ado let's take a look at what we've done today...

We love earth week

We made bird feeders! This is the day my kiddos have really been looking forward to, so i wasn't going to let a little rain stop us.

IMG_7212

I got the idea from Pinterest to use paper towel rolls, peanut butter and bird seeds to make a quick and easy bird feeder! I think they turned out perfectly!

For our book today, we read 'I Can Save The Earth!' by Alison Inches. It's a great little book about how we should all stop and appreciate the beautiful world around us and also how is is our job to take care of it!

We read 'It's Earth Day!' by Mercer Mayer, which is a good book about doing your part to help with global warming.

We Love Earth Week - Day 2

Today is Day 2 of our We Love Earth Week celebration...

We love earth week

Today we made EARTH signs, using stuff we found in and around our yard.

Here is how you make them:

First you start out with a piece of construction paper or cardstock (any color you want to use will do, i just happened to have blue paper on hand).

Using glue write out the letters EARTH.

IMG_7116

Then take whatever you have found around your yard (grass, flowers, dirt, sticks, etc.) and attach it to the glue.

IMG_7121

And something like this should be your outcome...

IMG_7138

Pretty cool, huh? :)

Today we read 'Fancy Nancy Every Day Is Earth Day' by Jane O'Connor. It was a fun little story about how you should try your best to be green without going overboard.

gMovies Review {and Giveaway!}

Hey Everyone!

Last month i was given this great opportunity to review gMovies, which couldn't have come at a better time since we had just moved into our new place and we had to wait 3 weeks to get our television service hooked up.

With gMovies offering instant access to almost 300 faith friendly feature films of every genre, in addition to animated stories, television series and biblical documentaries, i just knew it was going to help the 3 weeks fly by!

gMovies

When i first got gMovies all set up and ready to go, my kids and I were so excited to see that they have the entire series of 'Friends and Heroes'! I also really loved the huge selection of movies they have available; comedy, romance, drama... you name it, they got it!

It's so great that with gMovies i don't have to worry about the content, as everything they have on there is family friendly. I can't tell you how many times i heard stories from people, who use other streaming devices for movies, and their children were left alone with it and they watched something inappropriate. With gMovies you don't have to worry about that, plus at just $4.99/month, it's cheaper than others out there! I'd say that's a win-win.
We've been just streaming on my PC, but you can also stream on iPad and Android devices. I do wish they also had an app for the Kindle, as that would have come in handy for me.
Anyways, now for the fun part, the giveaway!!!

One lucky reader is going to win a 6-month FREE subscription to gMovies!!! All you have to do is just click on the link below to enter to win!! But wait there's more, all of my readers get a 2-week FREE trial!! Try it out for 2-weeks, if you love it (like i do) then just continue to pay $4.99/month. Don't worry though, you can also cancel anytime if it's just not working out for you!

Easter Happenings 2015!

Seeing how it's after 8:00 the night before Easter, i know this post is a little late, but better late than never right?! Anyways, i thought it would be fun to share how we've been getting ready for Easter around our house. Check it out...

I created this ring of plastic Easter eggs using only yarn and plastic eggs! Isn't it cute?!

IMG_6848

We made some Foam Cup Easter Baskets and you can too! They are so easy and fun to make, plus they are so cute!!

IMG_6932

Supplies Needed:
  • Foam Cup
  • Sharpie
  • Washi Tape
  • Index Card
  • Scissors
  • Easter Grass
  • Plastic Easter egg (optional)
IMG_6933

First you start by coloring the top of your foam cup.

IMG_6935

Then you color the bottom.

IMG_6937

Next you can add some design to the center of the cup (i went for something easy, circles).

IMG_6939

Then i cut out an index card into 2 equal pieces.

IMG_6944

I then added washi tape to the index card pieces to make them stick together and to add color for the handle.

IMG_6946

Then i used to washi tape to stick the handle onto the foam cup.

IMG_6950

Lastly i added the Easter grass and a plastic Easter egg! So cute, right?! I just love the way these turned out! :)

IMG_6954

Some other things we've been up to....

We sent the kiddos on an Easter egg scavenger hunt throughout the house. Here they are finding one of their clues in the freezer...

IMG_6902

We colored eggs..

IMG_6926

We decorated the house with Peeps...

IMG_6842

We were a little silly... When my son was standing outside asking me to take his picture, he had no idea i was doing this. When i showed him, he said "oh Mommy.." and smacked himself in the head... :)

What have you been doing to get ready for Easter?
