Homeschool Curriculum Picks {2018/2019}

Hi Guys!

Today i'm going to share with you all of our curriculum choices for each kid this year.

Cruz (Preschool/ 4 years old)

IMG_4390

I couldn't just pick 1 curriculum to use with him this year, because there are so many good choices out there. So i'm doing a mix up of 4 different ones.

God's Little Explorers - I used this in the past with Karina and we enjoyed it.
The Good and The Beautiful Pre-K Level (language arts) - This was super affordable ($15) and it's much raved about in the homeschooling community. So we are excited to give it a go!
Confessions of a Homeschooler Letter of the week - I bought this years ago when i started my homeschooling journey and this will be my 3rd child i've used it with.
Encompass Preschool Curriculum - What really excites me about this one is the planned out field trip ideas and snacks to go with each week.

Karina (2nd grade/ 7 years old)

Language Arts & Literature: The Good and The Beautiful level K - This covers phonics/reading, spelling, grammar/punctuation, literature, and art.

Math: Math-U-See Epsilon
English: BJU Press English 5
Vocabulary: Wordly Wise 3000 Book 5
History: Abeka Book Old World History & Geography
Science: Abeka Book Investigating God's World
Language Arts & Literature: The Good and The Beautiful level 1-5 - This is a free curriculum!! And like i said above, it covers: phonics/reading, spelling, grammar/punctuation, literature, and art. I'm starting him on a very low level because he does need some extra help with spelling and i'm sure by the end of the year we will finish level 5.

Samuel (8th grade/ 13 years old)

IMG_4388

Math: Math-U-See Algebra 1
English: BJU Press Writing & Grammar Grade 8
Vocabulary: Wordly Wise 3000 Book 8
History: Abeka Book America Land I love
Science: Abeka Book Earth and Space
Language Arts & Literature: The Good and The Beautiful level 2-7 - He also struggles with spelling, so i'm starting him low too and by the end of the year he will be where he needs to be at.

That's all for their individual work...

Each kid is also doing some form of Spanish class. Some do it on the computer, phone app, and others do worksheets.

The 3 oldest kids also do Typing Instructor for Kids on the computer.

They are all still learning piano.

So that's everything, curriculum wise, we have going on this year. I hope you enjoyed hearing about our choices, and if you homeschool your kids, i'd love to hear what curriculum you are using this school year!

First Day of Homeschool {2018/2019}

Hi Guys!

As you can tell by the title of this blog post we have started back up with homeschool, for our 6th year of homeschooling!

This year i have an 8th grader, 5th grader, 2nd grader, and preschooler.

IMG_4338

*Seriously why is it so hard to get 4 people to look at the camera at the same time and smile. This was the best picture i got.*

I plan on sharing all our curriculum choices in a separate blog post, so be on the lookout for that.

But as far as how our first day of school went, it was pretty good. We are doing a new schedule this year so of course that takes time to get used to. I might share our schedule in a separate blog post, if that something you guys would like to see, let me know. As we were doing our school work i realized some of our stuff hadn't arrived yet and i also realized that i forgot to order a few things, so that was our one hiccup during the day. Nothing major though, and we were able to move along with the day.

Cruz, my preschooler, loves doing school. He keeps asking for more work, gosh how i love that age! I wish my 8th grader was as eager to do school work.

I really wish we had a fun, first day back at school tradition, but the only thing we do is take these pictures and do interviews, which will also be in a separate blog post. I was thinking though that we might do something fun on Friday to celebrate our first week of being back to school. Not sure yet, but i will let you know if i come up with something.
